Join us for a wonderful experience in the polar night on cross country skis in the wilderness! A great adventure in a beginner friendly nature scenery near Tromsø.

Welcome to Polar Night - Nordic Skiing Experience, a 3-4 hour beginner cross country ski adventure under the dark arctic sky, in the mountains surrounding Tromsø. Beginners welcome!

This adventure is for you that want to get away from the city lights and experience the dark and wild surroundings by Tromsø with a fun skiing activity. Feel an amazing sense of accomplishment when you make your way through the snow between the trees and mountains. And if we are lucky enough, and the sky is clear, maybe the auroras will pay us a visit and dance across the sky in green and purple!

It is recommended that you have tried skiing before. You need to be able to get up again on your skis if you fall down in the snow. If you have problems with your knee joints it is not recommended to participate on this activity. Kids from 12 years and older are welcome!

Your experience consist off:

Support from the guide at the rental shop "Tromsø Outdoor",
Taxi / transport to a nearby mountain and wilderness area.
Introduction to cross country skiing. We will use "fjell-ski", which is Norwegian cross country skis with steel edges and skins underneath.
A beginner friendly cross country ski adventure in the dark. In gentle, easy terrain with head lamps on.
Leisurely pace with breaks for photos and refreshments.
Opportunity to experience the polar night in the wild nature, observe animal tracks, and see the unique arctic light.
Skiing far from roads and crowds, providing a peaceful adventure.
Guided instruction on skiing techniques and good balance.
Trip tailored to the group’s skill and experience level for a safe, supportive environment.

You meet your guide at Tromsø Outdoor rental shop at 16.00pm.

The address to Tromsø Outdoor is Fredrik Langes Gate 14, 9008 Tromsø.

You will pick up your pre-ordered rental equipment at 16.00pm at the desk and the taxi to the mountains departs at 16.30pm.

Booking

Booking and prices is per person. Minimum participants to confirm the trip is 3 persons.

After booking, we will let you know if the trip is confirmed as soon as we have enough participants. If we don't have enough bookings on this trip for the day you have requested, we will offer you an alternative date.

If we cannot gather a large enough group for your available days to ski, you'll get a full refund (minus the 5% admin fee), see Terms & Conditions for more info.

What is included:

Guidance and instruction from a certified guide
Skiing in easy, gentle terrain.
Transport from Tromsø to and from the mountains
An evening suitable for families and beginner skiers.
3-4 hours total, including guiding and driving time.

What is not included:

Equipment is not included and must be rented online in advance at www.tromsooutdoor.com. Choose cross country ski package with full length of skins, boots, skis and poles. Equipment must be picked up at 4:00pm in the afternoon at Tromsø Outdoor.
Food, snacks and hot/cold drinks are not included and you must bring this yourself.
Extra layers of warm clothes and extra mittens is not included and you must bring this with you.

Included / Not included

Each participant should wear the following clothes and bring the following gear when we meet:

Windproof and waterproof shell jacket and pants or ski jacket/pant.
Mid-layer fleece / Whool mid layer
Wool or synthetic fiber base layer
Wool socks
Two pairs of gloves (1 extra pair in backpack)
Beanie
Headlamp
Hot or cold drink
Snacks and adequate food for a 3-4 hour excursion
Backpack 30-40 liter.

IMPORTANT: For safety reasons, always pack an additional down jacket or down vest for each participant, along with a beanie and two pairs of mittens / ski gloves.

Equipment

Responsibility:

As a guest, you have a co-responsibility for following the instructions and recommendations of the guide. In addition, you are obliged by Norwegian law to tell the guide or Tromsø Ski Guides if you have any injuries or medical conditions that may affect the trip as a whole.

Insurance:

Tromsø Ski Guides has liability insurance for our guides. We do not offer travel insurance, cancellation insurance or accident insurance to our guests. All guests must purchase their own travel and accident insurance through their own insurance agency.

Cancelation policy:

All prices includes a 5% administration fee, this is non-refundable. For the remaining trip price, the following terms for refund applies in case of a cancellation. If you cancel the trip:

More than 45 days before: Full refund of the trip price to your account or as a TSG gift card (without the non-refundable 5% admin fee).
30-45 days before: 50% refund of the trip price to your account or as a TSG gift card.
10-30 days before: 25% refund of the trip price to your account or as a TSG gift card.
Less than 10 days before & no-show: No refund.

In case of very bad weather or conditions, we will do our very best to offer a different and better area for our ski adventure. In case of exceptionally bad weather, where the guide has to cancel the tour, you will have a full refund minus the 5% admin fee.

Minimum participants:

With less than three participants signed up for the trip, Tromsø Ski Guides has the right to cancel the trip and offer a full refund or an alternative departure of the same trip.
