Join us for a wonderful experience trying our ski touring adventure in a beginner friendly mountain scenery near Tromsø.

Welcome to Try-It Ski Touring, a 3-4 hour beginner ski touring adventure in the mountains surrounding Tromsø. Beginners welcome 🤗
You do not need any prior touring experience to join, only some cross country or alpine experience is sufficient. Feel an amazing sense of accomplishment when you make your way up before you descend, using nothing but raw human power.

We recommended that you have a basic knowledge of how to ski on alpine skis from previous experience at a ski resort. You need to be able to get up again on your skis if you fall down in the snow. If you have problems with your knee joints it is not recommended to participate for this activity. Kids from 12 years and older are welcome to join.

Your experience consist off:

Support from the guide at the rental shop "Tromsø Outdoor",
Taxi / transport to a nearby mountain and wilderness area.
Introduction to ski touring using alpine ski equipment, learn how to do ski touring, suitable for beginners.
Ski touring adventure in gentle, easy terrain ideal for those new to ski touring.
Ascent with alpine skis in the forest, trying to reach terrain above the tree line
Leisurely pace with breaks for photos and refreshments.
Opportunity to experience the mountains, observe animal tracks, and see the unique arctic light.
Skiing away from roads and crowds, providing a peaceful adventure.
Guided instruction on skiing techniques, efficient movement, and downhill skills.
Trip tailored to the group’s skill and experience level for a safe, supportive environment.

Meting point & time

You meet your guide at Tromsø Outdoor rental shop at 10am. The address to Tromsø Outdoor is Fredrik Langes Gate 14, 9008 Tromsø. You will pick up your pre-ordered rental equipment at 10am at the desk and the taxi to the mountains will depart at 10:30 am.

Booking

Booking and prices is per person. We need maximum three participants to confirm the trip. Maximum group size per guide is 6 people. Bookings with less than 3 people will be canceled. If you like to book a private guided tour, please see our private-guide options.

What is included:

Guidance and instruction from a certified guide
Skiing in easy, gentle terrain.
Transport from Tromsø to and from the mountains
A day suitable for families and beginner skiers.
3-4 hours total, including guiding and driving time.

What is not included:

Equipment is not included and must be rented online in advance at www.tromsooutdoor.com. Choose basic ski touring package with alpine skis, boots, skins and poles. You also need to rent ski helmet and ski goggles.
Food, snacks and hot/cold drinks are not included and you must bring this yourselfs.
Extra layers of warm clothes and extra mittens is not included and you must bring this with you.

Included / Not included

Each participant should wear the following clothes and bring the following gear when we meet:

Windproof and waterproof shell jacket and pants or ski jacket/pant.
Mid-layer fleece / Whool mid layer
Wool or synthetic fiber base layer
Wool socks
Two pairs of gloves (1 extra pair in backpack)
Beanie
Sunglasses, sun protection (from february), and sports tape
Hot or cold drink
Snacks and adequate food for a 3-4 hour excursion
Backpack 30-40 liter.

IMPORTANT: For safety reasons, always pack an additional down jacket or down vest for each participant, along with a beanie and two pairs of mittens / ski gloves.

Equipment

Responsibility:

As a guest, you have a co-responsibility for following the instructions and recommendations of the guide. In addition, you are obliged by Norwegian law to tell the guide or Tromsø Ski Guides if you have any injuries or medical conditions that may affect the trip as a whole.

Insurance:

Tromsø Ski Guides has liability insurance for our guides. We do not offer travel insurance, cancellation insurance or accident insurance to our guests. All guests must purchase their own travel and accident insurance through their own insurance agency.

Cancelation policy:

All prices includes a 5% administration fee, this is non-refundable. For the remaining trip price, the following terms for refund applies in case of a cancellation. If you cancel the trip:

More than 45 days before: Full refund of the trip price to your account or as a TSG gift card (without the non-refundable 5% admin fee).
30-45 days before: 50% refund of the trip price to your account or as a TSG gift card.
10-30 days before: 25% refund of the trip price to your account or as a TSG gift card.
Less than 10 days before & no-show: No refund.

In case of very bad weather or conditions, we will do our very best to offer a different and better area for our ski adventure. In case of exceptionally bad weather, where the guide has to cancel the tour, you will have a full refund minus the 5% admin fee.

Minimum participants:

With less than three participants signed up for the trip, Tromsø Ski Guides has the right to cancel the trip and offer a full refund or an alternative departure of the same trip.
